Isaac's first dunk=)

Excuse me as I brag on my brother for a moment....

He's in his junior in high school and his parents couldn't be more proud

He's a fabulous basketball player note the video of his first dunk on JV

He's so dedicated spent long hours working out these muscles to actually be able to dunk at his height

He's so considerate...and this is when I decided he will make a fabulous husband one day. He woke Christina up last Sunday evening to ask if she wanted to go to church with him and the parents. She did and he looks at her face and says. "Good your makeup didn't smear, hurry touch it up and change..."

He's thoughtful and kind haha he will even cover me up at night sometimes when I have just painted my nails. Also this kid will watch any chic flick with Christina and me=)

Someone please tell me if any other guy who knows these sort of things (girl makeup will smear if they sleep with it on, even for a few hours) I HAVE to meet him=) haha

And seriously he's genuinely a good kid...most youngest are spoiled but not this kid. He's parents do love him, but all of this attention is well deserved. Can't wait to see where life takes him. and hopefully he'll never loose his sweetness=)

besides all that he's so dang cute=)

Hope your week is going great!!!! =)

Is a pie a pie?

So every since I was little this is how my family made a pie…a pie that would actually feed all twelve of us, Athertons. I saw this on instagram and realized we’re not the only ones that do this…it’s a big family thing. To be honest until I saw this picture  I’ve never once in my life given any thought to how strange our “pies” looked…our poor company.

Well I asked my boss if he would call that picture a pie. He said no, he’d call it a pudding, custard or a bar. A piece of pie has to be in the pie shape or it’s NOT a pie. Well naturally I disagreed with him. I believe a pie is a pie because of the way it’s made, not based on the shape. Soooooo fast forward 20 minute later in our now heated argument… I thought of pizza! So brilliant of me, I might add=) People call homemade pizza, pizza, and rarely is it ever make it in a circular pan. But as a rule it’s made on a baking sheet and it’s still called pizza, when of course we’re eating our square pieces=) I won the debate!

It’s official pie is pie, solely on the way it’s made! and yeah I made these=)IMG_5248_thumb1

And who doesn’t like some eye candy?…check out my adorable brother=) IMG_5287_thumb1

Happy Monday! I hope your week is wonderful!

~Photo-a-day~ Nov 5 - Nov 11

It’s like Autumn had to prove she’s really here to stay. And after last night, with temperatures of well below thirty degrees, I’m a firm believer. It felt so good under my covers=) I was raised in a really cold mildly chilly home, with only one main stove to heat our entire house in the winter. It wasn’t a problem, we just wore more clothes. It was none of this short sleeve/short stuff I see around our house during the winter, now-a-days. And personality I prefer a chilly house to a too warm one. I like to actually sleep under a ton of covers in the winter. As you can tell I’m still trying to adjusting to this central heating in our new home.

My weekend was great! I’m one of those weird people who has a good weekend ONLY when everything goes according to my schedule. And this one stuck closer to my written plan than one has for a long while. Friday night I went to Isaac’s ballgame. Saturday I cook all morning. I made these chocolate chip cookies, which tasted more like a scone to me, but they were fantastic! This pumpkin roll was my first ever…never have tried to make something this complicated before. I was told tasted heavenly. I don’t believe it lasted past Monday morning. And lastly I made these burgers, after I got used to the hummus flavor – I enjoyed them=) but no one else wanted any so I had that for dinner as well and lunch the following day. I don’t think I’ll ever make them again…I’m just not a huge fan of hummus. That night I went coon hunting, for the first time. A huge ordeal for me, if I liked dogs more I might buy myself a hound and seriously take up this sport..haha! Sunday church and a couple hour horseback ride, with Lynnell, that evening. Like clockwork it all fit together.

Last night I stayed up late baking cookies…for my MaryKay provider’s (Linda), fall MK open house. I won’t go into detail explaining what all I made, but I’ll just share with you these guys, they were desperately cute. Both batches I made, I did something wrong, but it was so fun and my siblings will enjoy them=) I baked well past one in the morning and let me tell you, pulling myself out of bed this morning was a chore. Christina was so kind as to help me, until this ungodly hour…I love her=) She’s so much help. And since we’ve both just finished reading the Nicholas Spark’s books, all we want to do is watch the movies…again. They ended up being the main topic of conversation, she always pulls the true girly side of me out. Whenever we’re together we seem to end up listening to some kind of music and mostly this time of year she agrees to listen to my favorite – and that would be Christmas music. She had me listen to this song (because we were in the Nicholas Spark’s movie spirit) and it’s so stuck in my head today=) I could seriously do this all day, everyday, and never get tired of it. Cook and hang with my sis.

~Photo-a-day~ Oct 1–Oct 7

Last week  I had a very fun weekend planned for myself but turns out I had to canceled everything. I started not feeling well Friday night, but continued to enjoy myself at the sleep over, not paying attention to my body. I just continued to push myself, mentally blaming how I felt on “being tired”. I woke up early Saturday morning and the realization hit me. I WAS SO SICK! I had caught a one day stomach virus and it was determined to slow me down. I was so disappointed to not be able to go Goodwilling for the 50% off first Saturday of the month sale. I called my brother and let him know I wasn’t going to make it to his girlfriend’s little boy’s birthday party, that afternoon. Later that day I texted my friend a sorry excuse for not being able to attend her English Country Dance, that night. Bummer! Soooooo I was in my PJs all day, read, cleaned my room, etc. Fun right?!?!

On Sunday I grilled honey glazed chicken. And needless to say, since I’m writing about it on here,  I was very impressed with the outcome=)

I went over to an Amish family’s house for dinner Monday night and we began quilting a quilt I started years ago. They helped me frame it and begin. Such a relaxing evening. Dinner with a large family, washing dishes with so many girls, and then eating popcorn and quilting. Took me back to my childhood=)

Day 277

~I feel…~

I didn’t feel like working out on Saturday. This is a picture of a very sick me…but sick and all I still worked out. This was taken after I finished. Aren’t y’all proud of me? no actually I shouldn’t have, I’m still paying for pushing myself that day. I should have waiting till Sunday at the earliest. IMG_2162-2

Day 278
